Construction production progressed more dynamically during July thanks to domestic production. It was supported by the started new construction and more intensive works for civil engineering.

Housing construction in the 2nd quarter 2023
The number of completed apartments in the 2nd quarter of 2023 maintained double-digit growth year-on-year and was almost half as high as before the pandemic. The number of issued building permits dropped by more than a quarter.

Construction production in June 2023
June´s year-on-year growth of total construction production was positively influ-enced by increasing new construction and by significant increase in civil engineering works. It was mainly negatively affected by the decline in building construction.

Within domestic construction production, work for civil engineering, including the construction of motorways, rose by up to double digits. Building construction was slower than last year.

The Slovak construction industry achieved a passive balance for the second consecutive month. All components of domestic construction production decreased year-on-year. Construction production realized abroad has already recorded a decline.
