Turnover in selected sectors of economy in April 2019

Development in April 2019 in comparison with March 20191)

Turnover increased, month-on-month, in transportation and storage by 1,1 %, industry by 0,6 %. It decreased in selected market services by 1,5 %, information and communication by 1 % and in construction by 0,6 %.

Development in April 2019 compared with April 2018

Turnover in industry increased by 4,1 %. The development by the SK NACE sections was affected by increase in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 10,7 %; mining and quarrying by 6,8 %;  in manufacturing by 4,9 % and by decrease in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 3,4 %.  In terms of particular groupings of industrial sectors, which contributed at most to the total turnover increase, the most significant growth was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 14,7 %, manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 32,3 %, manufacture of  food, beverages and tobacco products by 15,3 %, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 7,8 % and in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 10,7 %. Turnover decreased mostly in manufacture of basic metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 5,1 %, manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 14,3 %, in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 3,4 %, manufacture of textiles, apparel, leather and leather products by 12,5 % and in manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 3,6 %.

Turnover in construction increased by 5,2 %.

Turnover in transportation and storage2) increased by 2 %. The development was affected by a rise in all activities, mostly in warehousing and support activities for transportation by 5 % and in postal and courier activities by 19 %. It decreased only in land transport and transport via pipelines.

Turnover in information and communication3) increased, year-on-year, by 11,6 % affected mostly by higher turnover in computer programming by 19,7 %, in information service activities by 19,1 % and in telecommunications by 3,4 %. It dropped only in motion picture, video and television programme production.

In selected market services4), total turnover increased by 12,8 %. Turnover rose in all activities of selected market services, mostly in real estate activities by 12,1 %, real estate activities and other trade auxiliary activities by 10,6 % and in gambling and betting activities by 10,9 %.

Development over the first four months of 2019 in comparison with the same period in 2018

Total turnover in industry increased by 7,9 %. The development by the sections of SK NACE Rev. 2 was affected by increase in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 14 %; manufacturing by 9,9 %; mining and quarrying by 5,8 % and by drop in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 5 %.  In terms of particular groupings of industrial sectors, turnover increased mostly in manufacture of transport equipment by 25,2 %, manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 19,9 %, manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 7,3 %, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 8,8 % and in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 14 %. Turnover decreased, year-on-year, in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 5 %, manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 5,8 %, manufacture of textiles, apparel, leather and leather products by 7 %, manufacture of electrical equipment by 2,2 % and in manufacture of wood and paper products, printing by 1,3 %.

Turnover in construction enterprises increased by 5,6 %.

Turnover in transportation and storage rose, year-on-year, by 5,3 % affected by higher turnover in all activities, mostly in warehousing and support activities for transportation by 10,6 % and in postal and courier activities by 11,6 %.

Total turnover in information and communication increased by 10,2 %. It rose, year-on-year, in all activities, most considerably in computer programming by 11 %,  telecommunication by 9,5 % and in  information service activities by 12,1 %.

In selected market services4), turnover increased by 11 %. Increase was affected by higher turnover in administrative, office support and other business support activities by 16,4 %, gambling and betting activities by 9,8 % and legal and accounting activities by 9,9 %. Turnover dropped only in architectural and engineering activities.
