In November 2021, confidence indicator in trade remained almost at the same level than last month. It reached 27,7 (growth by 0,7 p.p.).  Respondents consider the current situation as favourable,  however due to the expected stricter measures related to the forthcoming wave of the pandemic they are still cautious in assessing the future development.

Respondents' opinions on the trend of business activities over the past three months were very similar in November than in October. After seasonal adjustment, the balance (37) rose only by 2 percentage points. Positive evaluations (weighted by turnover) predominate mainly in retail sale of goods for culture and recreation  and in retail sale with other goods in speciliazed stores.  The  level of the goods stock (-6) remained at the level of October and 82 % of respondents assess them to be normal to the season.

The level of evaluation of the requirements for suppliers, remains almost at the same level for the third consecutive month. The seasonally adjusted balance is 37, only by 1 percentage point more than in October and similar than in September. The equal level is mainly due to the opinions of respondents from retail sale in non-specialized stores and retail sale of food and beverages in specialized stores. Entrepreneurs in the retail sector of ICT equipment in specialized stores anticipate lower requirements for supliers.

Expectations of business activities over the next three months are in November at the same level than last month. Respondents, despite the continuing wave of the pandemic and rising commodity and energy prices, view future developments slightly positively. The seasonally adjusted balance (40) is the same as in October. The majority of respondents (48 %) expect a stable situation and only 7 % of respondents expect lower business activities. The most balanced opinions prevail among respondents in retail in non-specialized stores.

Opinions on employment slightly deteriorated in November. The seasonally adjusted balance (7) decreased by 2 p.p. than in October.  Even 81 % of respondents do not expect any changes in the number of their employees. Lower number of employees is assumed by enterprises in retail sale of automotive fuels.

Opinions on the expected development of prices had a continuingly upward trend. The seasonally adjusted balance (41) increased by 3 p.p. Respondents from almost all assorted types of retail trade expect growth in goods prices, especially in retail of food, beverages and tobacco in specialized stores.

Note: * In November 2021 359 respondents were participated in survey which represents the whole trade. The values of the confidence indicator in trade and the balances range from -100 (responses of all respondents are pessimistic) to 100 (responses of all respondents are optimistic), however, the balance of the goods stock shall be interpreted in the opposite way.
Confidence indicator and balances on republic level are seasonally adjusted.
