Foreign trade detailed data in June 2021 and in the first six months of 2021

In June, compared with the corresponding period last year, total exports of goods increased by 17,1 % to EUR 7 723 million and total imports by 29,8 % to EUR 7 482,7 million.

The balance of foreign trade was in surplus in the amount of EUR 240,3 million (by EUR 590,8 million lower than in June 2020).

The foreign trade balance for January-June 2021 was in surplus in the amount of EUR 1 950,9 million (by EUR 1 474,7 million higher than in the corresponding period last year).

The Slovak Republic had the highest surplus with Germany (EUR 1 599,7 million), France (EUR 1 520,5 million), Poland (EUR 1 297,1 million), Hungary (EUR 1 257,8 million). Austria (EUR 1 166,3 million), the United Kingdom (EUR 1 138,7 million), the United States (EUR 1 045,5 million), the Czech Republic (EUR 857,9 million), Italy (EUR 685,4 million) and the Netherlands (EUR 418,5 million).

The largest deficit was with the Republic of Korea (EUR 2 185,5 million), Vietnam (EUR 1 873,4 million), the Russian Federation (EUR 1 634,6 million), China (EUR 1 486,9 million), Malaysia (EUR 380,4 million) and Taiwan (EUR 181,8 million).

Goods in the amount of EUR 44 241,4 million were exported from the Slovak Republic.

Compared to the corresponding period in 2020, exports increased by 29,5 %.

In terms of goods, the export of motor vehicles and other motor vehicles designed principally for transport increased by EUR 3 794,5 million, parts, components and accessories of motor vehicles by EUR 903,4 million, monitors, projectors, reception apparatus for television  by EUR 597,2 million, flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, hot-rolled by EUR 354 million, motor vehicles for the transport of goods by EUR 235 million and wires and cables by EUR 195,4 million.

There was a largest decrease in the exports of video game consoles, articles for funfair, table or parlour games by EUR 33,2 million, railway or tramway goods vans and wagons, not self-propelled by EUR 26,6 million and electrical energy by EUR 26,4 million.

Within the most important trading partners, exports to Germany increased by 32 %, the Czech Republic by 30,7 %, Poland by 31,4 %, France by 33,4 %, Hungary by 22,3 %, Austria by 14,6 %, Italy by 40,2 %, the United Kingdom by 11,5 %, the United States by 59,2 %, China by 86,2 %, Spain by 32,6 % and Romania by 29,2 %.

In terms of the main economic groupings, exports to EU countries increased by 28,7 % (accounting for 79,2 % of total SR export) and to OECD countries by 28,6 % (accounting for 87,5 % of total SR exports).

Goods worth EUR 42 290,5 million were imported to the Slovak Republic, with a year-on-year growth by 25,5 %.

In terms of goods, imports of parts and accessories of motor vehicles increased by EUR 1 472,8 million, wires and cables by EUR 414,6 million, electric accumulators, including their separators by EUR 372,3 million, iron ores and concentrates, including roasted pyrites by EUR 262,5 million, petroleum oils and other gaseous hydrocarbons by EUR 254,9 million and electrical motors and generators by EUR 226,7 million.

There was a significant decrease in the imports of telephone sets by 72,4 million, machinery for making fiber of finishing the paper or paperboard by EUR 72,2 million and electrical energy by EUR 37,1 million.

In relation to the most important trading partners, imports from Germany increased by 56,8 %, the Czech Republic by 15,1 %, China by 22,5 %, the Republic of Korea by 24,9 %, the Russian Federation by 30,5 %, Poland by 15,4 % , Vietnam by 11,2 % and France by 23 %. Imports from Hungary decreased by 16,7 %.

In terms of main economic groupings, compared to the corresponding period of 2020, imports from EU countries increased by 26,5 % (accounting for 66,2 % of total imports) and from OECD countries increased by 23,9 % (accounting for 65,7 % of total imports from the Slovak Republic).

Information was processed by the Statistical Office of the SR on the basis of data from the Customs Section of the Financial Directorate of the SR obtained within the customs clearance and INTRASTAT-SK declarations, which are provided by consignee and consignor of goods.
