Turnover in internal trade in October 2021

In October, turnover of internal trade increased year-on-year in the majority of activities, it rose the most in wholesale

In October 2021, compared to the previous month (September 2021), turnover decreased in all activities, i.e. in food and beverage service activities by 20,2 %, in accommodation by 12,8 %, in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 3,7 %, in retail trade by 2,7 % and in wholesale by 2,6 %.

Development in October 2021 compared to October 2020

In October 2021, turnover decreased by 1,4 % in sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, year-on-year. It lagged behind October 2019 by more than 16 %. Turnover decreased in sale of motor vehicles by 5 %. It increased in sale of motor vehicle parts and accessories by 11,1 % and in repair and maintenance of motor vehicles by 3,4 %.

In wholesale, turnover increased by 20,4 % at current prices compared to the corresponding period of 2020. It increased in all wholesale activities. At the same time, all activities exceeded the level of turnover from 2019.

In retail trade, turnover increased by 2,2 % compared to the corresponding period of 2020. Turnover rose in retail sale of cultural and recreational goods by 21,7 %, in retail sale of automotive fuel in specialized stores by 13,9 %, in retail sale with other household goods in specialized stores by 9,1 %, in retail sale not in stalls and markets by 8,2 % and in retail sale in stalls and markets by 2,2 %. Turnover decreased year-on-year, retail sale of ICT equipment and in retail sale with other goods in specialized stores by 10 %, in retail sale in non-specialized stores by 1 % and in retail sale with food, beverages and tobacco products in specialized stores by 0,2 %.

In October 2021, turnover increased in accommodation, year-on-year, by 71,5 %. However, turnover of accommodation still did not reach the level from 2019, it lagged behind by 35 %.

In food and beverage service activities, turnover decreased by 0,9 % compared to the corresponding period of 2020. Compared with October 2019, turnover was lower almost by 18 %.

In total, since the beginning of the year to the end of October 2021, turnover was higher, year-on-year, in sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles by 12,6 %. In wholesale, turnover increased at current prices by 18,6 %, year-on-year. It rose in all wholesale activities. In retail trade, it increased by 1,1 %, compared with the corresponding period last year.

Turnover dropped in accommodation by 20,7 %, in food and beverage service activities, it decreased by 14,2 %.
