December´s industrial orders returned to growth

In December 2023, the value of new orders in industry increased by 3.5% year-on-year and reached a volume¹⁾ of EUR 5.09 billion. For the entire year 2023, it achieved a cumulative year-on-year growth by 3.9%. After seasonal adjustment, new orders increased by 14.3% month-on-month.²⁾

New orders in industry started to increase again in December after a one-month year-on-year decline. The volume increased in half of the 12 monitored sectors of industry.

Orders increased year-on-year mainly in manufacture of paper and paper products, manufacture of motor vehicles, semi-trailers and trailers and in manufacture of apparel. Orders decreased year-on-year the most in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, and in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products.
